Join Black Mountains Gliding Club
We’re always looking for new members and instructors. People new to gliding, experienced pilots or lapsed pilots.
Black Mountains Gliding Club is based in South Wales. It’s a quite unique gliding club for many reasons. It’s small, very friendly, and surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park. You’ll get a good flavour of what’s special about Talgarth from the rest of this site.

Like most gliding clubs we offer a number of membership options to suit an individual’s circumstances:
New to gliding?
If you’re not a member of a gliding club, the easiest thing to do it book a Gliding Experience Flight or a Trial Lesson. Apart from the actual flight you also get three months Temporary Membership. If you want to progress beyond three months, your first year’s Full Membership will be pro rata for the remaining portion of the year.
Full Membership
Annual membership runs for 12 months from 1st March. For their first year only, new members joining during the year pay part-year fee. For those new to gliding this means they can get the most out of the three free months membership that comes with a trial lesson.
This entitles a member to full use of the club facilities, free instruction, and access to launches and club aircraft at members’ rates.
Country Membership
This is for glider pilots who are full members of another BGA club. It provides the same benefits and access as Full Membership.
Joint Membership
This is the same as Full Membership but provides a small discount for two full flying members from the same household.
Family Membership
This is a small annual charge for a person from the same household as a Full Member or Joint Members. It entitles them to up to four flights per year at members’ rates.
Student Membership
This is a reduced price Full membership for those that are either under 18 or in full time education.
Temporary Membership
This is a daily/weekly fee for visiting pilots. It’s also included for three months with a Gliding Experience Flight or Trial Lesson.
Note: Members of South Wales Gliding Club, Herefordshire Gliding Club, Stratford Gliding Club and the Vintage Gliding Club have a reciprocal arrangement with BMGC and are exempt from these daily/weekly fees.
